FEATURED 2008 EVENT

2nd ANNUAL GREAT BLINDFOLDED DINGHY RACE
Saturday, June 7, 2008
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Trenton Street Park
Cambridge Creek, Downtown
South of the Maryland Avenue Drawbridge
*Rain date Saturday, June 14, 2007. Same place & start times.

THE RACE

NASCAR’s high fly’n breakneck speeds and precision driving skills have been replaced with confusion, disoriented flailing, and oft times questionable words of frustration. Teams of two must maneuver their vessel over a pre-determined course in a row-boat. The challenge? The rower is blindfolded and team partner restricted to only verbal commands. The Prize? The Commander’s trophy, “Choptank Cup”, awaits the first across the finish line. The Commodore’s trophy, “Cambridge Creek Cup” and prize, awaits the team accumulating the most monetary donations (minimum sponsorship raised of $200). Team and Boat “check-in” begins at 10:00 AM. The first elimination heat begins at 11:00 AM with the final Championship race at 2:00 PM. All on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Trenton Street Park on Cambridge Creek. Turn at Portside Restaurant and head on back to the Public Boat Ramp and Park. Vessels will be “dressed” in their colors and sponsors clearly displayed. The in the- water venue will team up with the Maritime Community celebrating “National Safe Boating Week”. U.S.C.C. Auxiliary, Power Squadron and MDNR Police will be among the many on hand to demonstrate safe boating awareness, as well as, vendors displaying newest and latest safety equipment.
