When it comes to philosophy, many people argue over terms and phrases. But it is just semantics. We are all on a life-saving mission.
There are two things we will do in order to maximize the number of lives saved at Dorchester Humane. One is to implement proven life saving programs and the other is to ask for and welcome help from volunteers and others in our community.
The programs needed to save lives are within our reach, but we can't do it alone. Some of these programs are:
a foster care network for under-aged, traumatized, sick, senior, injured or other animals needing refuge.
a comprehensive adoption program that operates during weekend and evening hours and includes off-site adoption events.
medical and behavioral rehabilitation programs.
pet retention programs to solve medical, environmental, or behavioral problems and keep animals with their caring and responsible caregivers.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs.
cooperation with reputable and responsible rescue groups.
community collaborations using new and innovative business and non-profit partnerships.
volunteer programs to socialize animals, promote adoptions, and help in the operations of the shelter.
In order to accomplish all of this, we must turn to you, our volunteers, and the citizens of our community and ask for your help. It really does take a village.
We believe that people will respond with overwhelming compassion - opening their hearts, pockets and homes to save the lives of animals.
