Dorchester Humane’s Adoption Program Sets Records
After Eight Months, Cheebie Finally Has A Home
    Cat Adoptions Set Record

The Dorchester Humane Society’s Pet Adoption Center has already set two records for 2010.  “After eight months, Cheebie finally found his forever home and we set a record for cat adoptions,” advises Suzette Stitely Executive Director for the society.  “We hold our animals for as long as it takes to find them a home.  Cheebie has set a record for just how long that can take.”  Living in the shelter environment for that length of time requires a dedicated staff and volunteers who exercise and train the dogs so they do not suffer boredom.

PetFinder.com is a valuable asset to get the word out too.  Cheebie was seen on Petfinder by a woman in Baltimore and it was love at first site.  She came to visit and saw that he already knew some basic obedience and that helped to seal the deal.  “Cheebie is doing really well in his new home and that makes all of us at the Dorchester Humane Society very happy,” adds Stitely.  “We’re excited by the threefold increase in cat adoptions too and contribute that to the new colony housing where you can really see the cats’ personalities.”  The society encourages anyone considering a new pet to visit on-line www.dorchesterhumane.org or at the Pet Adoption Center at 4930 Bucktown Rd.  If you want to learn more about the humane society’s programs, contact staff at 410-228-3090 or info@dorchesterhumane.org.
