The mission of the Humane Society of Dorchester County, Inc. shall be to serve as the leading private non-profit organization with Dorchester County, which exists: To protect all animals from acts of cruelty or neglect To promote, motivate and enforce responsible pet ownership To promote humane care and concern for animals by educating the public and by encouraging spaying/neutering to end pet overpopulation To provide shelter, care and rehabilitation to animals in need To work for the passage and enforcement of laws which promote and provide for the humane treatment of animal.

We envision the day when all citizens, their property and their neighborhood will be safe from the dangers and nuisances or irresponsible pet ownership. We envision the day when animals will not suffer because of human abuse, neglect, or ignorance. We hope every pet born will be assured of a good home and care all of its natural life and will be spayed/neutered.
