Volunteer

It's fun, you make new friends and only good can come of it. Join a Team.  Take a pet to an adoption event, volunteer to assist in spay/neuter, help people keep their pets, have fun with animals at the shelter, help in the office, be an adoption counselor, fund-raise, draft grants, dive into public relations work, help manage volunteers.   Volunteer at the shelter or in your own home.  Represent DHS in the community or on-line.  There's plenty to do.  Join us!

To apply to be a volunteer, complete the Volunteer Application.  Submit it on-line or print and mail it to  DHS, PO Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613 or fax it to 410-228-3979.

Foster an animal

This is one of the most rewarding of all volunteer activities. By providing space in your home and your heart, you are increasing that animal's chances of adoption. No more kennel stress. Animals in foster homes are happier, calmer and more adoptable. Sometimes an animal needs a little help to be prepared for adoption. In addition, you are giving that animal what it needs most: time to find a forever home.

To apply to foster a homeless animal, complete the Foster Application Form.  To apply on-line, click on "Contact Us".  In the comments section indicate your interest in fostering and provide the answers to the questions in the Foster Application Form.  To apply by mail, simply complete and submit the Foster Application Form to:  DHS, PO Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613 or fax it to 410-228-3979.
